Married Student Housing -- West Campus Housing

adc_186_b4_02-k.jpg

Description

A rendering of a design for Married Student Housing (now named West Campus Family Student Housing), at the corner of El Colegio Road and Storke Road. The 250 one- and two- bedroom apartments are grouped into 38 buildings, which are clustered around grassy play areas.

A. Quincy Jones (1913-1979) and Fredrick Emmons (1907-1999) were partners in an architectural firm for almost 20 years. Prior to their partnership, they both worked for well-regarded architects: Jones for Paul Revere Williams in Los Angeles, and Emmons for William Wurster in the San Francisco area. Together they designed many housing tracts and commercial buildings throughout California. At UCSB they also designed the Theater and Dance Building/Snidecor Hall (1964), Noble Hall (1959), and Biological Sciences 2 (1969).
