Psychology Building

A rendering of the Psychology Building, looking towards the southeast, from the area at the south end of the Library. This was the first permanent home for the Psychology Department, and was designed as a research facility. The building was also a significant expansion in laboratory space, due to the addition of graduate programs in experimental psychology.

The architecture firm of Douglas Honnold (1901-1974) and John Rex (1909-2003) was active as a partnership in the 1950s and 1960s in Los Angeles. They designed many residences and commercial buildings in the LA area, including the Architectural Product’s Research House and the Valley Plaza Tower. They also designed North Hall (1960) at UCSB.
